What is Pedagogy? Pedagogy is ‘the art of teaching’. Pedagogical knowledge (PK) is a term used for knowledge of how to teach that is applicable across a range of teaching areas. The term general pedagogical knowledge (GPK) is sometimes used as a synonym so that a distinction can be made between knowledge of how to teach generally and knowledge of how to teach a particular subject area which is usually referred to as pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). Pedagogical content knowledge also is known as craft knowledge.
